STRUCTURE
All Convertapipe is custom-built to fit the job. It is impossible to talk about "a Convertapipe". Convertapipe is really a
family of hoses built at 6 different working pressures - 25 psi, 50 psi, 75 psi, 100 psi, 150 psi, and 250 psi; tube
thicknesses 1/8" to 1"; and a multitude of different rubber compounds with 5 different types of ends. Available in sizes up
to 48" I.D.
TUBE
The long-wearing tube is made of a specially blended
natural SBR compound with an excellent abrasion
resistance.
REINFORCEMENT
Multiple plies of high-strength
textile are used with a helical,
spring-steel wire embedded
in a cushion of rubber in the
carcass to help resist kinking,
crushing, or collapsing.
COVER
Tough, black SBR is most often used. It's weather, snag and abrasion-resistant. Other polymers such as neoprene, are available upon request, if the job requires.
LENGTH
For most applications, Convertapipe is available in lengths up to 50 feet, although other lengths to 100 feet are available in some sizes.
PRESSURES
Convertapipe has been designed to handle abrasive slurries and raw materials at working pressures of 25 psi to
250 psi, with maximum safety. (Contact HBD for higher working pressures.)
PERFORMANCE
Convertapipe can do things steel pipe can't. It's quality constructed and engineered for superior performance.
VERSATILE
All Convertapipe is built for full vacuum as well as discharge
pressures specified (25 psi to 250 psi). Available with a variety of tube and cover styles and thicknesses.
DURABLE
The abrasion-resistant rubber tube of Convertapipe "gives" and bounces sharp particles on their way. Also resists corrosion and erosion. More wear resistance saves you money due to less downtime while pipe is replaced.
FLEXIBILITY
Curves and bends are wear spots. Convertapipe enables you to make more gradual curves that help eliminate wear problems. Light and flexible, Convertapipe can be installed in tight-fit places where steel pipe can't even be considered.
ECONOMY
We won't try to hide the facts. Convertapipe costs a little more than steel pipe on initial purchase. There are some very
good reasons for this.
REPLACEMENT
Convertapipe is built to outlast steel pipe. You will buy lots of steel pipe to get the number of work days performance that one buy of Convertapipe gives.
INSTALLATION
Significant increases in production output and efficiency result from the relative speed and ease with which Convertapipe can be installed, compared to the rigid steel pipe.
MAINTENANCE
To obtain maximum life, operations managers should schedule periodic rotation of each length of hose to get uniform wear, which means longer life. Downtime is minimal.
APPLICATIONS
Convertapipe, the most versatile transfer hose made, is custom-built in six pressure ranges, with each order engineered
for the job. All Convertapipe is built for full vacuum and discharge. More resistant to abrasion than steel pipe,
Convertapipe resists cutting or gouging even by high silica sand, or metal shavings, or water-suspended ore, grain or coal.
It can handle wood shavings, fish, shell, gravel, sawdust, cinders and mild chemicals.
Convertapipe is engineered to be a significant step beyond steel transfer pipe. Years of quality performance is
custom-built right in by HBD. That's maximum economy. That's CONVERTAPIPE!

Flexseal Ends
For transfer of abrasive materials and fluids that must be kept uncontaminated by metals. The hose end is built up over a rigid steel angle iron ring. Behind this flare a split flange is placed. To join 2 Flexseal ends, the standard bolt holes are
aligned. No need to twist the hose. The soft rubber hose ends make contact, compress, and make a leak-proof seal when the bolts are tightened. No gasket is needed.
